Woman Barricades Herself In Bank In France And Threatens To Blow It Up mirror.co.uk

A bank in southern France has been surrounded by masked and heavily-armed police after a woman barricaded herself inside and threatened to blow it up.

The drama at the LCL bank branch in Ales, in the Occitanie region, began to unfold when the woman entered the building just before 10am local time.

She claimed she had a bomb and would set it off inside the bank.

Employees fled the building and police sealed off the surrounding streets and evacuated neighbouring buildings.

An elite Raid unit is at the scene as police attempt to negotiate with the woman, according to reports.
Photos posted on social media show police officers – some masked and carrying assault rifles – gathered inside the cordon around the bank.

Police have not said yet whether they think the woman is armed with explosives.
