SIR KEIR STARMER has revealed the Labour Party would negotiate a â shared futureâ with the European Union if it was left to handle the Brexit talks.
The shadow Brexit secretary was critical of Theresa May’s “belligerent” approach to the talks so far, adding Labour would seek to form a close and long-lasting relationship with the bloc’s leaders once the UK leaves.
This comes after John McDonnell, the party’s shadow chancellor, urged Conservative Remainers to seek out Sir Keir for talks about how they can join Labour’s pursuit of a Brexit which protects the UK’s economy.
Speaking to Bloomberg, Sir Keir said: “We are clear that the Prime Minister took an extreme version of Brexit to the electorate, and she came back with a minority government.
