Biker Jailed For Recording Highest Speed Ever Recorded On British Roads
A biker has been jailed after filming himself traveling at what is believed to be the highest speed ever clocked by a motorbike on British roads. Adam Campion, 26, pulled wheelies and weaved in and out of traffic in footage captured on a mobile phone. At one point he hit 189mph on a stolen motorbike. He has now admitted five counts of dangerous driving and has been jailed for 21 months at Nottingham Crown Court.
Police found the footage while carrying out an arrest warrant at his home in September 2016 after discovering a registration number in the boot of an abandoned car linking him to the stolen motorbike. Campion, from Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, had a laptop filled with hundreds of videos and pictures of bikes being driven recklessly. Detectives managed to identify Campion as the rider in the 189mph video despite him wearing a crash helmet. One of the videos shows Campion driving one handed and holding his mobile phone in the other while filming his speed which topped 189mph. Others included him driving through red lights, driving on the wrong side of the road, pulling wheelies and speeding in and out of traffic.
