Berlin lorry attack driver could still be at large

Twelve people have been killed and 48 have been injured – several critically – after a lorry ploughed into a crowd at a Berlin Christmas market.

* The suspected driver is being held by police after being arrested near the scene
* But officials said it is not clear if he was the driver after he denied involvement
* Security sources believe the man behind the wheel was an asylum seeker from Pakistan
* A passenger in the lorry was shot dead
* Berlin police said they believe the lorry was stolen from a construction site in Poland
* German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she was "shocked and very saddened" by the attack
* Police have stepped up patrols at Manchesters Christmas markets, while Scotland Yard said it will review plans for protecting public events
