The family of two children killed when their mother’s car was hit by a vehicle allegedly involved in a street race have urged the public to help trace the driver. Police have identified the brothers, who died at the scene in Wolverhampton on Thursday night, as 23-month-old Pawanveer Singh and 10-year-old Sanjay Singh. They were pronounced dead at the scene while their mother was taken to hospital with serious injuries. They were in a BMW with their family when their car was hit by the driver of a blue Audi A3 which witnesses said had been racing with a White Bentley GTC through Wolverhampton shortly before 9pm. The brothers suffered catastrophic injuries at a set of traffic lights on Birmingham New Road – a stretch known for illegal street races. Several members of the public rushed to the scene and carried out CPR in the road in a bid to save the injured children. Sources said the Audi driver fled the scene while the Bentley driver drove off, later returning to the scene. Police confirmed a man, 31, from the Bentley was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released pending further inquiries.
