London Fresh weather warning for capital after snow sparks rush hour chaos standard.co.uk
Commuters faced an ice-cold journey into work this morning with more snow forecast and temperatures barely rising above 1C. The Met Office described last night’s freeze as the “first taste of winter” and predicted more cold conditions for Friday morning. There were also warnings of further disruption for motorists as sub-zero overnight temperatures could lead to hazardous conditions on the roads. It came after a night of chaos on the capital’s transport network as the first snow of the winter descended in parts of London. Central Line passengers were also hit with delays as a faulty train at Holborn led to closures at Bank and Oxford Circus Tube stations.
Meanwhile, 80 flights were cancelled at Heathrow Airport and four at Gatwick Airport.
