Mesut Ozil digging his heels in at Arsenal over potential loan transfer mirror.co.uk
Mesut Ozil does not want to be shipped out on loan, despite his Arsenal career hitting rock bottom. The Gunners are desperate to offload the £350,000-a-week midfielder, who has fallen out of favour under new manager Unai Emery, but he is in no rush to leave. The German — signed from Real Madrid in September 2013 — has always made it clear he enjoys life in London, and would want a permanent switch if they do force him out. On Friday night, he posted to Instagram a quote credited to Gunners great Dennis Bergkamp: “When you start supporting a football club, you don’t support it because of the trophies, or a player, or history, you support it because you found yourself somewhere there; found a place where you belong.” Boss Emery has grown frustrated with Ozil, who clearly does not fit into his long term plans despite being a World Cup winner. The wage bill is also crippling the club and will bite into their spending power this summer.
