Professional runner crawls over London Marathon finish line after collapsing youtu.be
A professional marathon runner was filmed crawling over the finish line today after she collapsed. Hayley Carruthers, 25, fell to her knees as she sprinted towards the last point of the London Marathon. Despite having to crawl over the line, she beat her personal best – finishing in just two hours and 34 minutes. She came just 15 minutes behind today’s women’s race winner, Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei, who completed the route in two hours and 18 minutes. Shocking images show the runner being led away on a stretcher. Carruthers was one of thousands of runners who have taken part in the 39th London Marathon today, with money raised since the event began set to surpass £1 billion. The event started with the Elite Wheelchair race at 9.05am before the World Para Athletics Marathon Championships Ambulant Athletes start five minutes later, followed by the Elite Women at 9.25am.
