Well, Rihanna being Rihanna, she assured her Twitter followers that it wouldn't be happening for very much longer.
Washington Post journalist Philip Rucker let his own followers know that President Trump's Tennessee rally in Chattanooga was following the usual Trump M.O. It was a complete spectacle, with T-shirt cannons, loud music, and the crowd eating up everything the atmosphere had to offer. Well, he let Rihanna know that "Please Don't Stop the Music" was playing and she was none too pleased.

It’s been said a million times, but here’s a million and one — Trump’s rallies are unlike anything else in politics. Currently, Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music” is blaring in Chattanooga as aides toss free Trump T-shirts into the crowd, like a ball game. Everyone’s loving it.

Vulture reports that at least 10 musicians have publicly denounced their music playing at Trump events, like Steven Tyler, Adele, and even the estates of late artists Luciano Pavarotti and Prince, and some have gone so far as issuing cease-and-desist orders. Entertainment Weekly notes that "most musicians assign their rights to perform their music to a performance rights organization (PRO), from whom venues and events can then license the songs." That means that sometimes, things are out of their control when it comes to where and when their music is played. Axl Rose, who is also working to keep Trump from playing his music, says that the administration is using loopholes to play the music they want.

Unfortunately the Trump campaign is using loopholes in the various venues’ blanket performance licenses which were not intended for such craven political purposes, without the songwriters’ consent.

Rihanna's statement continues her recent involvement in American politics. Over the weekend, she used Instagram to urge Florida voters to head to the polls in support of gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum.
